So you put a race cam in your car.You start it up and its jumping up and down. You take your screwdriver and speed the idle up to make it stop jumping. Now you TRY to set the idle screws. And they don't work. Stop you don't need a rebuild. You need to fit it to the cam. When you set the idle up you moved the throttle plates away from the idle transfer slots. get a carb. and look there all the same.So what you need to do is get the plates back to the bottom of the transfer slots. To do this you need to make small hole in the plates on the same side as the transfer slots. start small around 3/32 put it back on try to set idle again they should go close try your idle screws again. You may have to make the holes bigger.Every time you make the hole bigger you close the plates more. I always look to see if its right. What you are doing is speeding up the engine with the hole and not the screw. This keeps the plates down on the transfer slots If you do it right It will run good as you open the throttle and the idle screws will work fine. This will work on any carb. I have seen my friend change from Q-jet to holly and back again and still have the same problem. Q-jet are good carbs its not there fault man!!!! Hope this helps some of you out there. I dont write well so you can call me if you like and I tell you over the phoneSEEYA CHARLIE 47103941957

I put this post to help its a good trick. If your cam needs a higher than normal idle this will put the throttle back and your idle screws will work. Just tryin to help
