I'll try not to overcomplicate this:

Thought I had my LT1 including Holley 4555 idling nicely with 10 static advance, and no apparent overheating (temp sender not hooked up, but also with just a bit of overflow of coolant, such as overfilling the catch tank).

Realised I hadn't disconnnected/plugged the vac advance canister when setting static timing.

Do so, and now static timing is retarded substantially.  No worries, fix that right up.

Can only get it to 4 degrees static now because of dizzie interference, but it idles smoothly at 800 rpm.  Hook the vac hose back up to the dizzie, advance increases; turn down idle speed again, shut it down.

Then it overflows big time from the catch tank.

Thoughts?  Dizzie is hei.

Thanks in advance.

I think I timed my LT-1 to 16-18 BTDC with the vacuum plugged.  I'm using straight vacuum, not ported.  I used to have overheating probs especially with the a/c on.   Cured that with a DeWitt's aluminum radiator.

Thanks for that; I believe I'm using ported vacuum (the tube at the front of the Holley's base).
