I have been working in the big metropolis of Okmulgee, Oklahoma off and on for the last year or so. And noticed a blue 1975 Stingray, L-48 coupe sitting off in some trees being somewhat neglected. I have driven by it for over a year now, never seeing any movement from hwere it is sitting. SO I asked some of the locals if they knew anything about the car, and most all had said that it had been there for years (since 1998 actually) and the guy was not into selling it. Me, being the person that I am, finally decided to stop and check it out for myself. Seems to be pretty clean. Paint is not exactly show quality, although the owner thinks it is, but it is reasonable clean considering that it has been sitting for 12 years. Driver quality atleast, with a little TLC. The current interior is pretty bad, but he has a complete replacement set of door panels , dash, etc....from Ecklers in a dark blue to go with the exterior. And it needs a new set of weatherstripping as well. I am sure that the engine would need an overhaul, due to 12 years of sitting. Tires, Etc.....you all know the drill.
The wife answered the door and immediately teared up when I asked if it was for sale. The husband has terminal cancer. He is not doing to hot fom what I saw. And she talked like it was just a matter of time. ( I feel for her) He was supposed to be building it for her, and it will never be finished. It appears that they are in dire need to sell it, do to the situation and can really use the money. I am hoping someone here is interested. I would buy it just to help the lady out, but am cash poor at the moment. I will buy it and flip it if it has not sold before I get the money together. I am already building 2 '69s, and need another car like I need another hole in my head. (not to mention the hole in my pockets.) He wants $6000, but I think that is alittle steep for the condition it is in. I think she would take less just to relieve the burden of stressing over the bills she is drowning in. I will stop back by there and get a number from her, and post it here if she will let me. I will also be happy to give anyone within driving distance directions to the home. Just PM me. I will try to get a good picture of it posted here as well. I feel that it would be a good buy for someone that is looking for a good little driver, but is also not afraid of the work it would take to clean it up. I hate to see a good car sit there and waste away.
