I called Ecklers earlier today and the tech guy told me that they don't sell the gasket kit separately. I will try  calling tomorrow and ask once more.... I guess it can't hurt.

The old bladder looks good on top so worse case scenario I will just use the top part.  The tech guy at Ecklers told me to paint the inside with a tank sealer as an added protection.

My husband got his stitches out yesterday and is doing great, thanx for asking. Tonight we are attempting to drop the rear diff and of course it's stuck on something. The cross member bar bushings seem to be stuck to the frame.  You go along great with tough things coming off easy and then you get snagged with something like this that should have come of with out a hitch.

Anyway thanx for you help!

Go get some gasket material at parts house and donate the bladder to someone who needs one.I also agree with Joel about not sealing inside of new tank. You will just avoid aniother problem by NOT using sealer.
Go get some gasket material at parts house and donate the bladder to someone who needs one.I also agree with Joel about not sealing inside of new tank. You will just avoid aniother problem by NOT using sealer.
I aggree with Mike. You can purchase cork gasket material from any Auto Parts stores. I really don't know if you've ever done this before. It really isn't very hard to do. Basically you need a small ball peen hammer, and the material. You lay the material over the area that needs the gasket. Make sure that it's held tightly in place. Tap out the open areas and the bolt holes. It's very easy. You can even buy a gacket hole punch out set, to make various sized holes. You don't really need the bolt hole punches to make your gasket. You shoul try it. If you didn't like the first gasket, try starting over.........it's easier then you think, especially with cork materia. You can make gaskets with other materials, but the thicker the material makes it a little harder to punch out. For the tank I would choose cork material. I'm glad that the stitches are out. Corvettes are fun. Your husband is lucky that you are in this with him, that is cool.

As far as sealing the tank, I do that in my shop "professionally". Now I agree I that it really isn't necessary to coat a new tank. The only time I would suggest doing it is in an old rusty tank to seal the rust particles from clogging carb etc. or if you plan on storing the car for a long period of time.  If not done properly the sealer could break loose and then you would have big problems.  If you do decide to coat it, make sure you throughly clean the inside with acetone to remove any oil or other that would keep the sealer from adhering to the metal. Most aftermarket tanks come with a slight amount of oil on them to keep them from rusting during storage. You want to make sure you get every bit of that out. I feel the cons of coating a new tank out weigh the pros.
Riks corvette parts sells the sending unit gasket part number GAS339. it sells for $4.95
I don't think that will work. It's round in shape. I think the one that Anni needs is oblong in shape. She should give them a call or also call Larry at Corvette Specialties.

I called Ecklers to beg for their version of the gas tank neck gasket but no luck. I also tried Paddock, Corvette Specialties and Riks Corvette parts with no luck. Looks like I will have to use the top part of my old bladder or try buying a cork gasket and make one on my own ... I will see how that goes.

I will pass on sealing the inside of the new tank since everyone here seems to think that it's a bad idea. I appreciate the good advice. Everyone here has been super! Hug

New question... Florida is going to have all gas stations putting 10% ethanol
in all the gas. The article stated that it would only be a "problem" with cars older than 1980-classic cars. What is the solution? What problems will it cause and how can I avoid them? I've heard that all the gaskets disintegrate and I guess can get sucked up into the carb.  Please explain and offer a solution. Help!

Minnesota has required 10% ethanol for years.  We don't notice a problem.  Carburetor needle valves don't last as long, but that just means nine years instead of ten.  As you have any components serviced, make sure they use newer compounds that are more alcohol resistant, but don't rush to change something.
