Hello can anyone please help i have a 81 vette the carb is electronically controlled carb was overhauled last summer car sat most of the winter now started her up and took  for a short ride 25 miles sometimes now when i come to a complete stop in drive it sounds like it is about to stall out and sometimes it does it has the 350v8 with auto trans anything i can do? or would it be best to just get a aftermarket carb like a holley or a elebrook and new distribuator and change over to old system that has a vacum advance with points  have had it with the carb and really dont want to spend anymore on this carb any suggestions and help greatly appreciated as was told it is vey costly to get a new carb that is electronically controlled.

There's actually only two things on that carb that have anything to do with electronics. The TPS(throttle position sensor), and the mixture control solenoid. The description leads me to believe the MCS is stuck, or possibly gummed up. It is what controls the idle fuel mixture in the carb.
Does the "Check Engine" light come on?

Or the float was replaced with a poor quality one which is sinking (or sticking), and letting the engine flood.

The info above is all possible.  Having any ECM problems?  Sounds like TPS problem  (TPS is controled by ECM).

Hey Patrick,
Like they already said, it's probably a carb issue.
As far as the distributor goes, stick with the HEI. You wouldn't want to have to worry about points, IMHO.
Let us know how it goes.
