Got the hooker headers and side pipes on.  I'm running them open headers right now.  As awesome as that is...I will eventually get a ticket if I don't quiet them down a LITTLE (plus, I drove it all day today and I cant hear SH*T! Tongue)

I was curious what ya'll were running in your pipes. I've heard good things about the STS baffles.  Anyone have these?  Just looking for some recommendations. I want it to be loud and throaty...but just a little quieter.

I have the  Hooker glass packs and a friend of mine has the Hooker flow thru ones. I like them both, his are a bit louder and the least restrictive.  Both are not expensive at all.
I can't help you with any other ones.

I just pulled my Hooker inserts out also and it IS loud, but sounds oh soo nice. I am worried about tickets also.....

I have read a lot of different info on all the forums and I decided on the STS baffles. I understand the STS baffles can be made even less restrictive if you remove the center caps. I have heard a lot of good about the STS brand, especially if you don't mind the higher octaves.

Also check out Sweet Thunder products: http://sweet-thunder.com/chambered_unique_insert_corvette.htmlI have also heard a lot of good about these also.

Have you got the Hooker Tattoo (Branding) yet? Got mine in less than 24 hours after the install... I'll be ordering shields in the next few weeks when I decide which ones I want to get.

Good luck and post up what you decide.

LOL Haha! Lucky for me, I have not got the tattoo yet. I've only driven it to work...I wear a flight suit which is fire resistant...that might be why. I'll probably be posting something this summer when the weather warrants shorts.  My wife wont get out of the car now until I walk around and basically pick her up out of the car Tongue

Speaking of exhaust being restrictive, is there a way to tell if you are not getting enough flow?

My LT-1 has factory sidepipes that were put on by the original owner when the car was first purchased. I changed out the original "mufflers" (not doing much muffling after 30+ years!) and had glass packs put in. The car has quite run the same since, and I wonder whether the exhaust may be too restrictive, or not restrictive enough (?)

I dunno. i have to hear what everyone has before i make up my mind. personally, i think my car is loud enough with the OEM side pipes and mufflers.  though i dont know what they sounded like brand new so i cant really have an opinion here.  My pipes are the original ones that came with the car in 1974 so i imagine i have hundreds of itty bitty holes in the mufflers and pipes.  Oh Geez look at me rambling on about nothing. i will stop now.

I'm sure some other guys on here with more experience will give better advise...but before the Vette I had a 65 ford mustang. I had a 351 crate motor installed by a shop that also installed exhaust with a single cat converter so I could pass New York emissions. I took it off a couple years later and installed straight pipes with glasspacks...had a similar problem. I then installed a more restrictive magnaflow muffler set and problem was fixed.  I know this doesn't help much...anyone else have a more educated / better response?
