Hey guys,

I am just a tad bit confused on the fuel system.

Here are the pics in the assembly manual from the factory...



What it appears to be is on the PASSENGER or RIGHT side there are TWO steel lines
ONE I imagine goes to the PUMP, then using the outlet from the pump another stainless line to the CARB. The SECOND line that is to the tank on that side attaches to ANOTHER inlet of the PUMP (AM I RIGHT)? THEN BACK TO THE TANK FOR OVER FLOW (AS THIS IS MECHANICAL AND GRAVITY FED)?

BUT THEN THERE APPEARS TO BE TWO MORE LINES ON THE DRIVER SIDE! LEFT!
FROM THE TANK TO THE VAPOR CAN. THE VAPOR CAN CONNECTS WHERE? WHAT DOES THE SECOND LINE DO?
I can easily get around emissions... so can i just remove the the VAPOR can, and lines from the LEFT or DRIVER side? can't I just use a VENTED gas cap to evenly pressurize the system? Where do the lines connect on the passenger side? On the filler neck? and then there should be an opening round hole to connect the vapor return line?

PLEASE NOTE I PLAN ON USING A HOLLY BLUE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP!
NOT THE MECHANICAL!

Everything on the left side is for the vapor recovery system  You are correct that you can use a vented cap and remove all of that, although you will no longer be emissions legal ( I had to add that to cover my A$$).  The main feed line on the right is all you need if your fuel pump and pressure regulator do not need a return.  The small line is for excess fuel return, and just dumps back into the tank.

where can I get a vented cap for this car? And the other ? is where can I get the reproduction fuel lines that I need. And can some one sell me the fuel pump / regulator? I cna;t find the ones I bought a long time ago.. I know you got em Larry ;)

I did exactly what you described Louis. I bought my vented gas cap from PepBoys and spliced in braided lie onto the hard lines near the firewall...

Your best bet for electric fuel pumps is Jegs or Summit.  We can get you the correct main fuel line.  You cannot run it in it's correct location without taking the body off the frame, but you can re-route it a bit and make it work.  If you are doing all this, you might want to buy larger diameter aluminum tubing, and bend your own.

Hey Larry...
I was just looking at the diagram and I thought to myself yea... The body has to come off again. I already took the body off, cleaned the frame and put poly body mounts in place. So taking the body off again is stupid. Whats the best way to blow out the line?

ok, while we are on the subject.  I got a raw gas smell in the corkpit at times.  No visible fuel leaks.  Should I be concerned with changing the canister?  It is the original as far as I  know.  After running awhile, if I put the car in the garage right away, the smell of gas will knock you over!!!

My first suspicion is the carburetor oozing just enough to smell, but not visible.  Otherwise, it could be a leak anywhere in the evaporative recovery system.

MIGHT CONSIDER LEAVING VAPOR LINES ON THE CAR IN CASE YOU SELL THE CAR OUT OF STATE, CALIF REQUIRES THE SELLER TO BE RESPONDSIBLE FOR CAR TO PASS SMOG AT TIME OF SALE
