I've had this problem since I bought the car..can't seem to keep the cable to the carb adjusted enough to open the secondaries all the way.. Well I was a little bored tonight and got under the dash to see what made the pedal work... what I found was the pedal is a little 2 piece set up..there is a sinch bolt that keeps the two parts tight...well that was loose so the pedal never had enough travel to move the cable enough to work the secondaries correctly...so..I tightened that and it works so much better....thing is I still have a little bit more on the carb that can open up...meaning the cable is still just a touch to long....its adjusted at the carb as far out as it will go without binding in its plastic guide....so the question is ...should there be some kind of spacer type washer that goes on the pedal upper lever where the cable end goes thru it?? It has what looks like the stock plastic retainer but it looks like there could have been another piece in between the cable end and the retainer..it wouldn't need much...I'd check my AIM but that's gone AWOL since the move....oh..no way I think I can take a pic of this...I can barely see it as it is!!

I've never seen, or known about anything there other than the plastic seat/retainer. The inner cable itself has prolly stretched over time. My only idea would be to maybe find a small flat washer to put on behind the cable seat. That won't give ya much, but it might be enough. I have used a tie-wrap to get full throttle before, but that isn't a permanent fix. Otherwise, you may need to remove the pedal, and put a small bend in it on the top...

Thanks Adam..I may just do that..removing the pedal isn't that hard..was just wondering if something fell off over time..a good thing I did notice on the drive home yesterday...after I fueled up again with the low octane gas is that it doesn't ping as bad...could be I wasn't getting enough fuel under load with the secondaries not kicking in when I needed them to under light throttle and load..I may play with this to tune in the plate..maybe that's what I need to do so I can run this normal pump gas..I have turned down the timing to 32 degrees total I can run 42 with 5 gallons of the good stuff added in..I haven't bought a full tank of blue yet but I don't think that will happen anytime soon...not sure I need that much..
