Yes,  The only decision is the source of the DC power to drive the unit.  When I bought my 78 the manual chock had been changed out to electric.  The installer selected the heater fan power.  It has power when the car is running.  The issue I had was that the electrical chock would heat up quicker than the engine, thus some hasitation sometimes.  I actually swithched mine back to manual.  You can get the necessary manifold tubes and things form the various web sites.  With replacing the connection pieces, the process works very well.  I like the orginal aspect of the process.  Good luck..

My orig Q jet,78 carb went belly up so went to an eldrock Q Jet with the heat choke (same as the orig had). Didn't care much for it so converted to electric choke.  Edelbrock has the adapter, forget how much it was but I'm glad I went with it. Others may have different idea. Edelbrock was very helpful on how to convert and to best place to hook up power.

I just purchased an electric choke kit for my 74. The only reason I did this was because I am replacing the original manifolds with a pair of headers and will not have a heat riser in the system to force the air back through the intake manifold. I purchased it from O'reillys auto parts. The cost was around $60. The instructions that came with it says to use the hot 12v wire going to the wiper motor. I plan on running a 12v wire from the fuse box that is hot only with switch on. Also keep in mind that the new choke is adjustable so you should be able to set it to work properly. Good luck!

I took 12V IGN source from the fuse block for mine. Works like a charm!! Thumbs Up

Diito, I ran a wire from IGN in fuse box to electric choke. It was on an Edelbrock carb, but set up should be the same. Mine works great.

I got my conversion from NAPA.  After a bit of tweaking, it works fine.
