New units in...what a pain in the arse those 31 year old fuel lines were to remove....The bladder looks fine and the needle ran up to half a tank (which is what it looked to have in it). Calling for rain, so I havent road tested it yet....but it started right up, so thats positive.

There should be some kind of resistor/buffer on the gauge itself to keep the needle steady. On the older cars, it was a resistor shunted directly across the terminals of the gauge itself. The later cars w/electronic gauges/circuit boards, it is made into the circuit board, I believe....

The reason for asking that was these car ride like lumber wagons, maybe the gauge is not tight or something is striking it as you bounce on down the road. While sitting still can you pound on or around the dash to see if you can make it bounce.
