Now that I have your attention. I put in a new Edlebrock Performer fuel pump when I put together the engine winter before last. Well I have been battling an oil leak around the fuel pump for a while now. I finally got to the root cause. The pump kept leaking oil out the diaphragm vent. Turns out the oil seal retainer was not properly staked in place and the seal fell out. This seal rides on the diaphragm push rod. To get to it you have to disassemble the pump housing. Unhook the diaphragm shaft from the actuator arm, then you can see the seal.
I put the seal back in place, staked the retainer down and reassemble. The hard part was getting the fuel pump back on the engine. My block was not machined with the tapped hole used for holding the pump push rod in place. Had to resort to pulling the rod and putting grease on it to make it stay in place.

So if you find oil leaking out the breather, pull the pump and go looking for this seal.

Nice that you can take the pump apart, and fix it, even tho it's a pita, considering it was a new part.
Good job, and thanx for the pic! Thumbs Up Clap

Yeah, that's a shame you had to go through that Glen. We buy the best so things like that don't happen, but, even the best laid plans of mice and men............ Good thing you're sharp enough to handle that without further expense at least. Way to go Thumbs Up.
