tonight I decided it was time to install my headman headers on my 74 automatic trans 350 engine. I have had them since last April. I put the car on a rack and removed the bolts for the manifolds. Had to cut the extension pipes because the previous owner had exhaust installed and they welded 2 spots on each connection about 3/4 inch. once the pipes were off i unbolted both manifolds and lifted out. Placed the new header gaskets in water like i had read about on this forum, then removed spark plugs and oil switch on drivers side. had to also remove the valve covers because they are the tall style and the header was hitting the one on the drivers side. then the drivers side fell right into place and was tightened up. the passenger side wouldnt go in from the top but fit very nice from underneath. bolted it tight and tomorrow night i will reinstall the plugs and wires and fire it up.
From start to finish tonight was only 2 hours. Didnt expect it to go that well!
Have an appointment thursday to have the extension pipes made and that will put me one more step closer to completion. I wonder how many steps there are in completion on a corvette??
Just wanted to thank everyone in this group for all your help over the past 2 years. Your help has been greatly appreciated!
