I have pulled my original stock motor and am getting ready to put in a 383 and am looking for header recomendations. I would also like to see some photos of the installation.

My vehicle has PS, PB, 4 speed standard, and no AC, the heads on the 383 are JEGS alum with angled plugs.

The current exhaust is 2" straight through dual exhaust without a catalytic converter.

A lot depends on what you want out of the car...pure performance, streetability, etc.  What is the rpm band you want the best power from?  Different header designs produce best power at specific rpm ranges.

Tri-Y headers are best at low end torque production.  Long tube headers give best performance at mid- to upper-range rpm's.  Block hugger headers kind of split the difference and make for good all-around performance.  Tri-Y and in particular, long tube headers can create clearance problems under the hood and with the ground.  Tube diameter makes a difference as well.

You need to determine the answer to those before anyone can give you a good answer.  I'm partial to Sanderson headers...you can contact them and ask a tech for advice.  The same goes for other brands as well.

My own recommendation...regardless of which style you go with...is to get coated headers...Jet Hot, ceramic coated, etc.  The extra expense up front pays for itself in the long run...appearance, lack of rust and longevity.

OK, I ordered some Hedman Headers and tried them on as the engine was out of the vehicle, they looked great, but the short angled plugs hit the fore and aft tubes. I sent headers back and am currently looking to see if any forum members have photos of headers that fit in their C3.

It's lamost blasphemy, but right now I think the quick workable solution is to port the old ram's horn exhaust a little to match the head outlets so I can drive the car.

Maybe headers will be a later project.

There are 2 1/2" rams horn manifolds available that flow a lot of air.  They will come close to shorty headers in performance.
