A few quick questions.

I am looking to put a temp. set of headers on my 80 Vette, with the stock 350, 190 HP engine minus air pump & egr valve with true duel exhaust and no cat.   In a few years after I finish several other projects I will be putting in a crate motor and these will not match the new heads. I am lucky in that my garage is now operational and I have a lift in it (best thing I ever bought).  I am hopeing not to have to pull the engine to put the headers on, only want to do that once when I pull the engine for good.

1. What problems should I expect taking my old exhaust mainfolds off to install headers.
2. Has anyone used these "ss hd headers" on the net 63-82 76 77 78 79 80 81 CHEVY CORVETTE STAINLESS HEADER

If you have how did they fit.

Thanks Glenn

In terms of taking off the old manifolds, soak the bolts and studs with PB Blaster over night. Make sure your sockets fit well before cranking of the fasteners when you're ready to remove them. Many times a 12 point socket will round these babies off due to too much oxidation. The Studs where the pipes meet the manifolds are also a major Censored!!!

Then again, if converting to headers, you can just cut the pipes where you need to...That brings me to a question:  What are you doing for exhaust? There's a fair chance that your factory system will not line up with the headers.

In terms of SS HD Headers, don't know them too well. I have Hedman Ceramic headers on mine. Worked out really well.

Good luck!!

I have true duel exhaust - the Cat. put them on several years ago, laying on the ground, all six of the exhaust studs broke off taking the stock system off.  Had to drill them out and retap them laying on my back.  Replaced them with ss studs and brass nuts with lots od never seaze, they will come righ off with no problem.  That was all b4 the garage was built.

Thanks Glenn

Ouch Glenn!!Wits End Live and learn, eh?Wacko

When I removed the studs from the heads on the original 350 in my car, I soaked the bolts overnight, warmed the engine up first as advised by an old timer (my dad) and all the manifold fasteners in the heads walked right out...

Sometimes it's the old tricks that make the difference...Wink
