I have seen people converting their cars to TPI, but I don't know a TON about it. Is this possible to convert or no? If so, what all would have to be done? I currently have a decent 383 setup which runs all the way to 6500, making 460 at the engine at 6000. Is the TPI off a stock old camaro going to run that high and still make as much power?

Oh I should mention I have a guy who says he is going to give  me the setup off his '92 camaro which is why I'm asking.

Thanks LOL

You would need the entire set-up...computer, wiring harness, fuel pump, etc....
Is it worth the effort? Yeah, it could be, depending on what the guy has. Is it an L98 TPI set-up, or is it an LT1 set-up? The '92 should have the LT1, which uses shorter intake runners, and sequential injection, where the L98 has the long runners, and batch-fire injectors. The L98 set-up prolly would actually kill some of the higher rpm power, but give you more low-end torque...the LT1 system would prolly be a better bet, overall.
Another member here (wraith) has installed an complete LT1 engine in his car. Took him a while to get it all going, but last I heard, it was running.

I think you're prolly good with what ya got now, if it's making 460hp, but that's just me.

Hey Joel. Main reason I'm wondering is I hate paying $4+ for a gallon of gas and only getting 10mpg out of it! Ouch

Also the carb tuning is a pain in the butt, I like computer controlled stuff.

Btw did you ever get a price/etc for me on that hydraulic torque converter lockup kit?

Camaros were a year behind Corvettes.  They used the TPI system through '92.  A stock TPI will not support anywhere near 460 HP or 6500 RPM, especially on a 383.  TPIS in Chaska, MN (952-448-6021, www.TPIS.com) makes everything you need to support that much power with TPI, but it will cost you more than an aftermarket EFI system that is made to bolt on.

Yep, it will work, but you will lose power overall.  It won't breath as well as what you have now.   Mileage may improve.  But you will also find it starts to flatten out over 4500 to 5000 rpm.
