I just put a set of chambered exhaust on my 72, change it over from side pipes. I looked an M/A and other places, but I have a vett friend tell me he got his from Allen's Exhaust, they make the chambered exhaust for M/A and several other Vett supply houses. I called Allen's for a price and he sold me the pipes, W/ packings, bezels, tips, hangers and clamps for a great price.  All most have it installed. So far very happy with them.

I have it (aluminized version) and I love it. I get lots of compliments with it.
It is however, on the louder side.  I live in a group of townhouses and I have to be careful not to peddle it too much if I decide to drive it to work and leave at 7:00 am. Dont want to bug the neighbors too much
I set off a car alarm as I drove by once also. (i was in a tight downtown neighborhood).

So, if you like some noise, you should be happy.

I had the aluminized version from Mid America on my '79 L-48 a few years ago. I never really liked it so I changed it out for a true dual system with mufflers. For my taste it was just too loud.

I kind of liked the sound once up to highway speeds but the around town stop n go was just too much for me.

I think if my motor had more HP/compression the chambered system would have sounded better, but my L-48 just did'nt cut it.

I just purchased a set of the gal. alu. ones...as I felt they would last my life time...(G) When we 1st fired the a car up...I thought OMG...what have I done...of course with a smile on my face. And in the garage they really raddled the windows. But now I like to start the car..just to hear that sound. Idle sound is music to my ears....LOL...and I never thought I would be the loud pipe kind of guy...but I am hooked! To each his own music...LOL

I also have Allen's exhaust on mine.  I replaced old/tired flow masters.  I probably liked the flowmasters better on idle, but on highway with the chambered; I did get exactly what I wanted; throaty/raw music that screams power.

They are loud (louder than flowmasters) and I have also triggered car alarm systems in parking lots (which is kind of fun)...

Came with all the clamps, hangers and nice chromed tips.  I had it installed at a local shop since I was replacing my headers at the same time and I don't do welding.

Note on this (in case you do similar); if you are replacing the headers at the same time and get black painted ones; there's a "burn in" procedure to follow.  I was not aware of it and did not follow it. Within 30 minutes, smoke came out of the hood; the paint of the headers pretty much all burned.  So brand new headers looked like 15 years old headers on the first drive and a few months later (without protective coating); were covered in surface rust.

I have them, and love them. Just what I wanted. Sound of power and it sounds fantastic at idle and on the highway. Not for those with sensitive hearing.
