im glad it worked out for you...

hopefully that vacuum hose was the main source of your problem.  a vac leak is a big deal.

shipping is better than paying for everything.

as for CF..  like I said..  if you disagree with lars or one of his many parrots you get flamed and that is why I dont go over there.  If the point iof the c3 forum there is having one guy share his opinion and a hundred people regurgitate it then they have suceeeded.

Hey Adam,

It sounds like you may have nailed it. I'm hoping that a good, long ride will give you trouble free results.

Let us know how it goes.

P.S. My exhaust had a rattle that was caused by the flap on the passenger side exhaust manifold. I wired it open and the problem was easily solved.

Sorry Guys,
I hit the wrong switch and it went off in my hands..It was a few comments on replacing my Q-Jet with Edelbrock carb.
I resorted to sending message directly to Adam and he may possibly send it to this forum.
In short I have substituted many Q-Jets to Edelbrocks with a great deal of success and increased the performance/operation of the engines, however the gas mileage differs quite a bit and should be considered as the Eddy's are not what you would call an asset as far as MPG as the Q-Jets...The small primaries of the Q-Jet help the mileage as long as you don't go into and stay in the secondaries, the go fast mode.....
Again, I apologize for my ineptness on the computer..
                 Have a great day all.............

Adam,

Were you able to test it out on a good long ride?

Dang...I been missin this thread for a while. Glad ya got the vac. leak fixed there, Boss.
And...to Ben...yer such a troublemaker!!!
I just now went to CF and read thru Adam's thread....
Now ya know why I love this place so much! Everyone's opinion/facts are accepted, and you can either take the advice/info, or not...up to you. No "I know everything about everything because I read it on the internet" attitudes here.
I have often stated that some procedures work well for me, but not might for someone else. That's just the way it is.
Sorry for the "off topic" garbage....I'm done now.

I hope the vac advance lines cures your engine problem, Adam. I bet it does, and your fule mileage should also improve.

I know I haven't been on much.   But I support the q-jet, which now seems to be working.

A carb is often blamed when a car does not run correctly, and there are other problems present.  I am really interested in knowing how the car runs after a bit of an extended drive.    I have a vested interest in this one.     I was the third rebuilder.   Adam sent the carb to me in a box.   I rebuilt it, but do not have a flow bench.    He put it back on, and it was better.   Some time after that, Adam and I got together here in Ohio, and I made many adjustments.   It sat over night to confirm the choke operation.  Back to PA he went.    It was a nice visit, but very short.

I did not have a chance to do a full engine analysis.  At that time, the hose was okay.  But that's been a couple of years.

Adam, before repacement, make sure all the other things on the engine are connected and working properly.   And there are many, all of which can cause problems.  As you now know, the little things make a huge difference.  I hope this remains just minor things.

Before taking a big plunge, give me a call.  Maybe I can help.

Adam you made the right decision in keeping your Qjet. I am feeding a 406 small block with one and it dyno'd at over 450 hp. When properly set up they will run with the best of the performance carbs and get better mpg when your little pedal is just caressed rather than being slammed against the carpet.
The model you have can be easily converted to an electric choke by replacing the cover with an electric unit and plugging the heat tube line with a rubber plug. The power will need to be a new line from an ignition on source, but do not use the distributor feed.

Primary and secondary metering rods, primary jets can be changed to tweak the carb for performance. The biggest mistake made is in the setting of the secondary air flap. Since it also controls the depths of the rods in the jets allowing it open to soon will make it bog. this is easy to adjust with an allen wrench and screwdriver.
