Help !!

I am going to replace the not working right Holley carburetor that someone placed on my 72 with a OEM Rochester Q/jet. I was lucky and found one at a swap-meet # 7042228. All I need is to rebuild it and change over from a cable pull choke to OEM thermostat pull choke. IF any one out there has a 72 with a OEM Q/Jet that can take some pictures of the choke set up or has any illustrations that can help me I would be grateful.

Check with Edelbrock...they discontinued their line of Quadrajets several years ago and, at least as of recently, had some left over at a discount to sell them off.  If they do, you can buy a new Q-jet for your car.

I went through the same thing on my 72 454 about a year ago. I bought my parts from "Doc Rebuild". Look in there catalog and you'll find exactly what you need. You'll need a choke spring and the chock spring cover and a choke rod. Your looking at about $40.00. also get the choke mounting screw while your at it. If you have the correct intake you just have 1 screw that holds down the choke spring and the cover just snaps on. One note...you can only get to the choke spring screw with the carb off. It's kind of up under the carb. If by chance you have an old choke spring screw broken off in your intake you can use JB Weld to hold down the choke spring.
Good Luck

The parts you need SHOULD be an easy find. We have junk-yards with all kinds of stuff to make the choke work very well. Prices seem to  be high for new stuff. Carlisle will have all you need. E-Bay on the C-3 site has it as well.manchestershark2009-08-18 10:45:26

Mine is also JB Welded...I made sure you couldn't see it. Mine hasn't moved either.
