The stainless fuel lines(or any stainless lines) are harder then carbon steel, so, yes, they can sometimes be a little persnickety to get seated. When you tighten down a "normal" steel line, it deforms somewhat, and it basically conforms to the shape of the fitting it is seating into. A stainless line, being a harder material, might need to be torqued a little tighter to get it seated....that's all.
I have a stainless line on my '74 from the pump to the carb, and I haven't had any issues with it. I didn't
order a stainless line, nor did I want one....but that's what I got...
