4 years ago i disassembled my 1968 327 vette engine. at the time it had all of the ign. shielding. I have since been in an accident and am suffering some brain trauma, and some memory loss due to the accident. when i took it apart i took pictures of all shielding and it's sequence of how to reinstall all of the pieces. The camera was stolen out of my wife's car. I have the original assembly manual, but there is only 1 scribble looking drawing and only lists the pieces. Does anyone have complete pictures how to put all these pieces back together, where they go again, wing nuts, bolts shapes on which side heat shields and where they bolt. I think some of the parts bolt onto the exhaust  and or the block but don't remember where that particular double looking bolt goes to do this. Please any help is appreciated. pictures, video, or instructions with diagrams. engine is back together, stopped short of exhaust and carb. really think chrome goes on before installing. i thing it would be too tough a job trying to get it right with engine in car. PS. this is a 36,000 mile original, mint condition, matching numbers car with 1 spray paint. ( son is a painter, and we are going to paint it back original type paint) I have protecto plate, order sheet, window sticker, tank sticker and i think pictures of the collections this car was in. 1 owner even had it in a bubble. I went through engine to make sure everything was correct, so that there would be no surprises. Everything was OK and now it really needs to be put back in car. THANKS flattopalpha@yahoo.com

Flattop, wish I had some great pictures or diagrams for you on the shielding but there's not alot out there. Some of the best diagrams I've found are in vendor catalogs. ZIP and Corvette Central have some decent diagrams that may help you out. Willcox Corvette may also have some diagrams or perhaps a video on their website, they have a lot of good "how to" material for C3 Corvettes. You are correct, putting the shielding on while the motor is out is the easiest but that same shielding must be removed and replaced to change the plugs and your not going to pull the motor back out for that. I would start by installing all of the shielding and brackets on the motor out of the car to sort out all of the correct components and their locations. I would then remove the upper chrome cover sections held on by the wing nuts to install the motor. Check out the diagrams in the catalogs mentioned above and see if they help out any. I have a few photos from my '73 that I could send you, they would be simular to your '68 but not exactly the same. Good luck !!
