Just got a 1971 Coupe off Ebay that was totaled back in 1972?  Only 24,000 miles on it, problem is it's wasted from the firewall forward. Frame just annihilated from just in front of firewall. Birdcage looks to be good from middle of T-bar back and maybe firewall good from half way down to mounts. I think most impact and damage occurred on the driver side. Possibly A-pillar post will need replacing. My question is mostly the frame issue, difference between 1971 and 1979 frames.  Obviously ends (bumper changes)  would there be differences between each end?  I have a great 1979 I just got more or less as a parts car. Body is really nice condition with original engine, trans and a complete car. Just no power when hooked to battery and the floors are shot. I think this might make the perfect doner to get the 1971 coupe back together??

Anyone have or know of a 69-77 frame for sale reasonably, located within 2 hours of Detroit Michigan?  I've been restoring any classic or Corvette fro over 25 years now. Sometimes bartering is a great way to work out good deals between fellow car nuts.. LOL

To eliminate some major headaches, I'd limit my frame choice to the '69-'72 years. Later frames will need quite a bit of modifications to use on a bumper car. Wink

Not to sound egotistical but, I've been restoring old cars (collector cars now)for over 27 years and have fabricated so many hard to find panels for my bread and butter Cadillacs and LincolnsI feel confident in my abilities to alter many 79 parts to duplicate 1971 panels and parts. I've done my share of C3's along the way and a couple C2's. A replica 308 GTS that the owner required me to produce from scratch a few body mods. Within reason I can make my 1971 75% correct using my doner 1979 in reasonably good condition. I don't plan on ever subjecting myself to any NCRS judging in any way as I  would not insult fellow Corvette lovers that have invested countless hours and/or money into their loved Corvette. I'm happy just owning a 1970-72 Vette already. If it looks better than a lot of some C3's I've seen I'll be happy. Anyone located nearby Detroit Michigan that should need body and/or paint work feel free to respond to this post.. Thanks for any information thrown my way..Thumbs Up
