Corvette Central use to provide all that info in the description. Ex. Alt. Bracket Bolt 3/8 x 1 1/2. I Just use size for example. But they made changes and don't provide it anymore. Bummer! Now I google part number from manual and get the info! I'm not positive but I think the picture of bolts and screws in manual are the actual size. I will look at manual later to see what I find.

The assembly line used screws/fasteners from a large box marked with the part number...no need for size call-outs there, as workers knew what they needed for each position. Iirc, the Parts Manual does have dimension call-outs for fasteners....

Jack, you can peruse the '53-'82 and '84-2001 Part Manuals HERE. Ben(cthulhu) offered to host them on his webpage for me years ago, since my page wouldn't handle the large files. You should also be able to download them, but.....they are MASSIVE in file size. If you're not familiar with the GM parts numbering system(or even if you are), it can take a while to find what you're looking for, but....if it's on the car from the factory, it's THERE.
These are the original parts manuals on microfiche....some of the pages are a little screwy, but still readable. I use them quite often to verify part numbers and such. Thumbs Up

Here's an example from the Parts Manual...

that parts manual was the best thing i've bought.  60.00 off ebay.  It gives sizes of bolts etc and pictures are very detailed usually show every washer etc  then take the number and look up sizes as in the picture posted.  wouldn't be without the book.

IF it is a screw, or other fastener for the 78 Corvette, chances are you have at least ONE that you are trying to duplicate for replacements..
If so, take it to a GOOD hardware store and determine the fastener type, finish, head, thread etc..
Most good hardware stores can easily determine such things..Surprisingly, on my 78 Corvette, there ARE some factory metric sheet metal screws( 10mm holding washer bottle in place)
Then you can call around locally or go online and search for a particular screw/bolt/fastener etc and talk intelligently and so locate sources other than the aftermarket Corvette part sellers..

I recently cleaned up and repainted  and needed to replace some missing screws on the rocker panels of my 78 Corvette.

The screw was steel, black oxide, oval head phillips 3/4" length and 10/24 machine thread..Length measured for overall length NOT thread length on the ones I replaced...Jim
