I have heard good things about the Borgeson power steering conversion. Would that work better than the stock configuration I have now on my 74 454? It seems to get pretty messy under there at times. Thanks

I installed one on my 73 SBC. Less parts is always better in my book. Things will be tight as with everything on a BBC better worth it.

depends on the shape of the steering column. Once you remove the old gear box, slave valve, hoses, and cylinder you will need to shorten the shaft coming out of the column. This is done by tapping it inside the column. If it is not rusted together you may be able to do this without removing the column from the car. several light hits to the end of the shaft where the rag joint goes may be all that it needs. If it takes more then that then I would remove the steering column and do it on the work bench. When you tap on the end of the column make sure you use a brass hammer or a block to protect the shaft from damage.

Plus 1 on what Brian said. I put one in my '81. A world of difference. Install wasn't to bad on mine.
