Anyone have a recommendation on who makes the best carpet replacement.

are they all the same or is Mid America better than Corvette America or ACC.

I think ACC is a supplier to several of the Corvette houses.  MidAmerica makes their own I believe.  You can ask Chuck (chucks7d8) how his carpeting is holdong up (he won the big prize at the 2011 Gathering).

I was an "Authorized Dealer" for ACC for a few years, and that's what's in my '74. Put it in in 1997, and it's still in great shape. I do know that they supply some of the Corvette vendors, also. Mid America does make their own, and from what I've seen, they are pretty well made, too.

OK, I don't know why the photo upload utility on this forum is so cantankerous, but it is - I've only done this a hundred other times at other websites through the years, but hey mister forum facilitator it's a broken photo upload system - sorry that I'm not able to insert a photo or upload a file with a plain JPG file to illustrate my below point.

So, I've done quite a bit of investigating - the standard carpets available from our core C3 vendors are NOT the equivalent of the OE carpet that came with the vehicle - none of them are, and the vast majority are sourced from ACC, the reputable manufacturer.  That said, if you order the ACC "Ultra Plush" from Stock Interiors Co., you will get the right weight/density as with the carpet, at least the same as originally came in my 1982.  Stock Interiors will send you samples of both, the standard weight, and the Ultra Plush.  The Ultra Plush - as you would see in the photo if I could upload it without a mysterious, ambiguous error - is 40% denser and the nap is probably 20% higher, matching my OE carpet when I hold it up.  I carefully compared both, the standard carpet sample and the Ultra Plush with the speaker surround carpet, which is the same as the rest of the car - and, the standard carpet was indeed thinner. The only downside is that it is an additional $116 vs. the standard carpeting that most of the others sell, but this is my favorite hobby and I'm trying to restore it to factory original and get the most enjoyment out of it.  Hope this helps others.

MAM makes their own and presses into form on site. We watched the entire process close up for the creation and the installation.

Someone (perhaps EBO) has pictures of the entire sequence ... which may even be archived on this site.

good luck
