This is my second C3 and unlike my first, 1982, I cannot have a slow learning curve. I have no lift or pit. Please help me with a safe way to under this baby. I have 2 floor jacks and 4 stands. Thanks in advance.

Me too. for my 1969.  By the way, I have ramps too, from O'brien auto parts.  Will those stay in place while I drive the car up?

I lift the Vettes and the T/A using the front cross member and the rear differential.  The front is the first to go up and the last to come down.  I don't have a low profile floor jack so driving up on a short piece of 2x6 laid flat under each corner gives me enough clearance.  For a short term project I'll place the jack stands under the frame just behind the front wheels and just ahead of the rear wheels.  For longer projects I'll try to get the jacks under the suspension.

I've never had a pair of ramps that will stay put when driving up on them.  I use a 2x2 cut to length to brace the ramp against the front wall of the garage.

I answered my own question about the ramps moving today.  They moved about 6 feet before my son held one in place with a crowbar.   Car sat leaning to the left but it was perfect for working on the starter shims.  And, it seems much safer than jack stands, at least once you get it up there.

My wife bought me a set of those "Race Ramps" for Xmas. High density foam, lightweight and very durable, nice and long for low profile cars. I had the front of my '81 on them for 11 months. They never deformed. A little pricey, but well worth the money IMO.

I have a set of Race Ramps, too.  I use them for my '80 and '64.  I have never had them slip when driving on them.  I agree about being pricey but I think they are worth the money.
