Where is the tank build sheet?
I am the original owner of a '76 so it should be there.
Last time under it I did not see it.
Can you get at it without tank removal?
All the St. Louis build records were destroyed in a fire I understand.
I think it is on the top of the driver's side of the tank. If you can take out that rubber seal from the filler neck to the body (rear deck) you might be able to see it with a flashlight. In order to read or photo it, you'll have to pull the tank (or the body 😲).
Good luck.
It can stay for the next forty years.
Thanks for the photo. Now I really realize it is not worth the effort to retrieve it!
There were typically several copies (7 according to National Corvette Restorers Society for the C3's) of the build sheet that followed the car through production. There was the one that most everybody knows about attached to the top of the gas tank usually on the passenger side. There were additional copies (typically only one additional) usually left in the car found in various places including strut mounts, in seats, under seats, under carpet, etc. The most commonly found duplicates other than those mentioned above have usually been located under the dash between the speedometer and tach. They have also been found behind the radio and under the passenger side dash. It is apparently Corvette's cruel attempt to send you on a treasure hunt! Good luck!🤣
I found mine on the leaf spring of my 1978 after it broke and had to be replaced. Always seems to be a treasure hunt.
They are on top of the gas tank. I had to reach up and peel it off.
