Mitchell kept insisting that they match the color of the
original Mako(then known as the XP car) to the mounted Shark, and no matter what they tried, it couldn't be done. So they did take the Shark off the wall, and painted it to match some test panels they had. Then they showed the panels to Mitchell, and placed them up against the Shark, and he was satisfied that they had FINALLY done what he wanted. Mitchell didn't find out until waaaaay later what they had done.
The later Mako II, and the Manta Ray were both a darker blue...the Manta was almost black.
