Hello everyone, new to the program here, joined looking for information. I have a stock "79" C-3 automatic car, Bought a 2012 Chevrolet Caprice PPV. Car runs and drives fine, was a vandalized insurance totaled car with 150K on the odometer. Was hoping to ramp up my learning curve by finding someone who has already done this swap and can fill in some blanks on cooling, exhaust and motor and tranny mounts ect ...

Have done a little research, but there is surprisingly little to read on this conversion. There is a lot of information on cam upgrades Lifter replacements and eliminating the Active Fuel Management, upgrading the torque converter's that over heat and checking the shift pistons for cracks ect ...

The actual install it's self, not so much. I have called most all of the major corvette suppliers, everyone is pretty mute on the actual install. I don't get it, it would seem like the C-3 would be the perfect car for this swap C-3's are dirt cheep, they are like belly button's everyone has one, and the Caprice cop cars have been on the market for a long time now, and especially because it takes two hundred pounds off the front of the notoriously nose heavy front end Vettes ... I thought every body and everybody's mother would have done two or three of these buy now. Where can I access these people or the information collected on this swap? Am I not looking in the right places? Here's your chance to tell me where to go ... LOL

I don't want to buy three different sets of headers to get the right ones, make my own cross member when there is ready made available ... If any of you guys or gals have done this conversion and wouldn't mind bringing me up to speed, contact me at   rodger1955@hotmail.com

Thanks Everyone

Rodger

Quite the project..!!!  Wish you success...!!!

There are some pretty knowledgeable folks here (unfortunately I'm not one of them) who may be able to offer some insights to help you (unfortunately I'm not one of them).  For some general info if you subscribe to Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine there's a couple of fellows who may have some answers for you.  Ask Ray written by Ray Bohacz (askray@hemmings.com) seems to have a broad base of knowledge.  Swap Meet written by Jim O'Clair (swapmeet@hemmings.com) covers a whole bunch of stuff.

Happy Holidays...!!!

I’ve had my vette since 2017. I don’t post a ton but I scan the forums pretty obsessively. I’ve seen plenty of swaps documented - strokers, LS, 200R4, auto to manual, even a V12. I can safely say I’ve never seen an L77/6L80 swap even mentioned in passing until today.

Hey, it’ll be 1 of 1!

Good luck, and post lots of pictures.
