It has officially started, for those of you I met at the 2014 gathering in Appleton you will know that it is the restoration of my 75.  Not ready to separate body and frame yet but have been playing around stripping paint.  Well wouldn't you know it the car has 3 paint jobs so lets see that's uh..... like 7 layers or so to come off. oh yay for me.

ok so I've tried a hundred times to post a picture of the stripping and sanding and the many layers of paint jobs that I have to go through, but its just not working for me I don't understand why its so hard to do.  I see a few others on here seem to have the same problem

I opened a Photo Bucket account. It's free, and, it will allow you to add photos as you go. Seems to work great. Good luck with your project.

Enjoy the ride of a restoration. Its up day and down the next. I found the toughest part of the job was what to replace and once you replace one part what about the part beside it. Till its all said and done you seem to replace way more then you originally thought you would. But its a very nice thing when its done and your cruising down the road again in your restored vette. Best of luck in your restoration.

Cindy, have a look at THIS THREAD ...it might have some help for you on inserting pics, and smilies too. If not,Post a new question in the Official C3 Vette Registry Support/Issues/Comments  forum, and Adam will look into what might be causing the issue for you. Are you using a phone/I-pad/Android type machine, or PC/laptop? Folks have been having problems using phones/tablets to load pics....Thumbs Up

I heard it gets so cold in Canada that if left outside for the winter, the paint will crack and fall off on it's own!

So I am about 2 body mounts from separation and am in the process of building my car dollie.  The pattern is the one for C3's based on a 69.  So I compared the stats on length width etc and so far the only diff is the 75 is 3" longer so I added that to the nose end of the dollie.  My question is, how do you know if the other dimensions will work for the mounts that you want to connect to the dollie?  There is no way to measure them maybe some of you don't bother with this and just set it on the 4x4's give me some thoughts I will hopefully finish the dollie today.  Pretty sure I didn't see anything that would help me in the assembly manual

body mounts are out, windshield is out, birdcage has some small holes but looks repairable (whew)and now we are ready for liftoff.  Only used a couple dozen bandaids so far.

(Adam Wartell added the pic below. I think this is the one you were trying to add:)

now have transmission out and bell housing off.  Had good look at clutch and yes it needs work but I expected that so far everything is matching numbers and it has been 40 years after all.

You might try using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer.  I have no problem posting links and photos with it, and it is a better internet browser.

Oooooh!!!! Yor car is NEKK-ID!!!! Embarrassed

LOL
You're gunna have sooooo much fun putting the suspension back together with no body/engine/trans on the frame.....NOT! While it certainly makes getting to everything much easier, when it comes time to re-install the springs, front and rear....that's where the fun will begin! LOL

ok Sarge81.  i don't think so not going to be able to start sandblasting til spring and the snow is gone.
Right now i'm a little confused as to how the dust shields come off, had a quick peak at them and looks like they slide off a clip or something on the top, today going to clean them up a bit so i can see better how they are held on the top side.

got them off after i cleaned off 40 years of grime i could see what was going on, everything off the front except the a-arms and springs, going to wait for some help by a friend who has done it before.  Moved on to the back now

Oh SH**** so i removed the struts on back and realized after i did the first one i didn't have picture of where it was set.  I shined up right side and have real good picture of where it was set.  so will both sides be set  the same or at least close when i put it back together so alignment isn't too far off?
The back suspension is giving me quite a go, its so rusted have had to cut or beat most things off, hubbie cost me the spindle part ( im sure there is a correct name in the book) which houses the bearing but there was no other option had to beat it apart and still not completely apart.  Have to be rebuilt anyway.    Whew, i need a massage

so just a little update,  car goes into body shop in local town and he will be helping me with the restore of body as I have never done this before, and boxing day I will begin the assembly of the engine, all new parts are sitting in shop. Kept original block as this is a parts matching car which might be important someday.  Boosted my 75 from the original est 165 hp to around 325 hp and could creep up a little farther before I'm done. So should have engine back on chassis by end of January and body work done come spring as long as time isn't a problem.
