Take your new toy to a park and take some calendar pictures for next your it is to late for the 2012 addition but never to late to get ready for the 2013.  Pictures cannot have people but sure would be great to have a good looking car with a really different theme in it.    The times I was in Australia and went to a park they tossed me a koala and told me to give it to someone else when I was tired of it.  Had a big red walk or hop up to the car in a park.  Great pictures.

Bondi beach would make a good background but??Beer  But people are not allowed in the pictures.

Congratulations on your new toy again.

Waz ...... Nice Ride!
Now when you finally get a minute alone....with out the Vette.
Tell us the full story it has to be a great one for sure.
Where did it come from? What port was it shipped from? How long did it take to come over to you? How does customs work? What was your first reaction? Was it uncovered when you first layed eyes on it?
Man your killing me! I want to know!

What is a M21?   I'm just not up on the 70s terms.    I hope you got a sweeter deal than the first
one.  Paperwork and the like.....

Tranny, Muncie M21
The color looks great, silvers always faded or chalked over because of the heat they draw from sunlight. This one looks super, but may be a repaint?
I have had a few in my days and still love the color. (Off Topic) Had a pro bass boat in silver metal flake that my competitors could not see on the water because it reflected its surroundings and blended right in, except when I was doing 70mph across the water then not so much!

G'day ebo - nice to hear from you! Was wondering how long it would take to see you pop up!

You're not going to believe this story...as you know, I was originally looking for a chrome bumper big block. As time and finances went on I really started to like the 74 models - know idea why - the just grew on me. I Wanted the high performance L82 and the M21 was perfect also..

Anyhow I looked high and low through the states, coming up with some good ones but not great. I really wanted a good "honest" car. Didnt care about paint etc - but matching numbers and originality was a must. Anyhow literally a week ago I was on my local Australian car website keeping an eye out and low and behold... this one came up in my state about 100miles away from me!!!!! I bought it that day. Amazing huh? This guy bought it from Texas about 7 years ago and shipped it here. He needed the cash for his house and I drove it home last wednesday.

After all that pain - who would have thought the perfect AMERICAN muscle car for me would pop up 90min drive away from down down Melbourne, Australia.

The car has had a repaint (originally a yellow car) but other than that its totally original great condition. I'm very happy. I drove it around town for a bit today and you would NOT BELIEVE the looks I get - these cars are a rare site on our roads!

Actually I do have a question - I want to replace the air cleaner and possibly carbi for something that gives better performance (Ill keep the originals in a safe place) does anyone have any recommendations?? Also any other simple Ideas for extra horses would be great (don't need a engine rebuild) so anything minor i would be open to suggestions!

Ill post this question under the engine section also

Cheers

Waz

Very nice Vette, and to find it so close to home.  I got mine from 2500 miles away.  Took forever to get it shipped here.

Sounds like a real nice ride. As for your questions on air cleaner and carb, The cowl induction air cleaner is a good one already. You can gain a little bit of performance if you remove the air door inside the hood. That will let cooler air enter the air filter all the time instead of just when your foot is on the throttle. The switch that opens it is located on the back side of the accelerator pedal and only opens when it is at full throttle.
You can also buy a K&N filter lid so it draws air through the top. I believe the one you would want is the 9". I had one on my 73 for a while but I could not really tell the difference.

The other question, which Carb should you get.
The answer to that depends on the carb you have.
The  Quadrajet carb is a good carb if it setup and working properly. If the car is stock then changing the carb will show little improvement. Save some money and have your distributor recurved. That will improve the performance the most unless you want to start with motor and drive train upgrades.
Have fun with your new ride.

Hi Brian - thanks for your info. What you have suggested is a great start for what I need and want at the moment. Down the track I will eventually get the engine re built and toughen it up in the process. But tht will be along way off and for now your suggestions are excatly what I am looking for. I'll defiantly do what you said and see how it goes! Oh - when you say the distributer 'recurved' does that mean getting the point redone for improved timing etc? Cheers

Recurving the distributor means that they/you adjust the amount of travel that the advance will move. The stock distributor will move about 14degrees. So if you start at 12degrees then full advanced will be about 26degrees. Allowing it to travel another 8-10degrees will let it advance to about 34-36degrees. That is where the performance folks say is best for power. The other thing that is done is changing the springs and weights in the distributor which controls the curve/timing of when all this happens. This process is best done on a distributer machine but can be done without that but takes more time.
