After searching for ways to remove the tank sticker order sheet from my 1968's tank I just came up with a solution that allowed me to remove the whole sheet (as good as it was after being stuck to the tank outdoors since 1968). When I pulled the tank to drain all the old fuel and replace the hoses I tried to peel off the sticker... 45 year old dried out paper, lots of factory glue .. it was ready to shred to pieces.. Then I thought of a solution.. It may not work for everyone but compared to the other posts I've seen, this worked.
Okay, the trouble was the old paper was glued to the tank. The solution... using a single blade razor in a holder, I heated the blade with a propane torch and used the razor to scrap between the tank and the glue where it was stuck to the sheet... came off like butter... the heat was enough to soften the old factory glue and the paper was unharmed. I did have a glove on in order to hold the blade handle.
Just another trick that might work for you if your looking for a way to remove your tank sticker.
Good Luck.
Tim.
