I was worried about rocks and stuff getting thrown at the car but the trailer modifications got away from me. All set for the 3,300km drive to Calgary to retrieve the car from storage.

Anything to do with a Corvette will always find a way to "get away from you".....LOL
That should do the trick, tho. I do have a question...do you have an exit strategy once you get it on the trailer? You won't be able to open the doors once it's loaded....Ermm

I think it is his 1969 427/390 Sport Coupe.  Notice the stake boards.  Looks to me like a well designed if you have  the truck to all it all.  Pull it in strap it down and then put the stake and boards around.  Only thing I would add is trailer brakes.

Thanks for the comments/questions. I have a plan A and a plan B. Not having the car here with me it is hard to say if plan A will work but I have a winch installed at the front of the trailer to drag the car up the ramps. I will install the front chains on the car before it is all the way on and hopefully hook the chains onto the front trailer rings and use the rear chains to pull the front ones tight. Car will be in neutral the whole time of course. If Plan A doesn't work the framing is easily dismantled to remove the nose wedge and the side panels. Trailer has brakes on both axles and my F150 is rated to tow 12,000 lbs (car and trailer are about 5,500 lbs). Should be OK.

Here's a Plan C: sell trailer, use $$ for plane ticket and fly to Calgary, Drive Vette back...road trip!! Let's not forget about the second motgage that needs to be taken out to pay for the gas that beautiful 427 will suck up!!!

And make sure your wrists are in good shape for all the waving you'll be doing to the folks beeping and giving the "thumbs up".

The engine has not been started since 1984. Makes it less of an issue that I can't get the doors open once loaded provided the front wheels are straight. It has been stored well all these years (not a barn but rather a garage) but no telling what is on those cylinder walls so I am not going to try to start it until it has had a full assessment.  I will wave anyway even though I will be driving a Ford towing a vette.

That what Fords were made for.  Tow trucks.  Good luck on your trip.

I'm looking for a F150 to tow behind the motor home and act as a tow truck for my Vet.
