I have been waiting for 36 years for them to bring back the Stingray name so that I can trade my one owner, almost last Stingray, in on the new one.  There have been stories of a come-back, anyone heard?

The Stingray Concept vehicle has been long rumored to be the next new Corvette(C-7)....I think it would be wrong to bring the name back....just as wrong as re-issuing the ZR1, Z06, and Grand Sport monikers....
just my opinion...

The corvette for Kids has a win a C7 Stingray the car I have seen has the Stingray name on it.

By the way I always liked the name Stingray and thought it should have been for all of the cars.  Most people who do not own a C3 believe they all are Stingrays.  Most of the contact I get with people when I'm in a position to talk to them refer to my 82 as a Stingray.

But at the same time, when I tell people I have a '74, they sometimes ask "is it a Stingray?" when of course, all '74's were Stingrays.  As were all Corvettes from 69 (I think all '69's, if not at least most) until I beleive late 76 or early 77.

Yes, I'm proud of the name and love owning a Stingray, but it's not like there are any additional options or power (other than the mythic history) that came with the badges

Back to the topic, other than the Transformers prototype, I've not heard anyone refer to the C7 as a Stingray

And then there is the discussion concerning the Stingray and the StingRay.  There is a difference.

Wasn't the earlier version of the name Sting Ray in two words, like what I just typed?  Then when GM re-introduced it, it was one word?  Yes, a lot of people think that a "Stingray" meant MORE power. (at least that is what I have experienced)

The second generation Corvettes were called "Sting Ray" & later referred to as mid-years. The Sting Ray nameplate was not used on the 1968 model, but Chevrolet still referred to the Corvette as a Sting Ray, and 1969 through 1976 models used the "Stingray" name as one word, without the space.
