Maybe...it depends on a few things. First, how well the paint job was done. If there is a lot of overspray in areas that normally would not have body color, it will de-value it some. Is i the "correct" type of paint to begin with....lacquer, or is it a newer base/clear coat? Did you buy it with the understanding that it was the original color....as in, did the seller mis-represent it to you?
It mostly depends on the next buyer....do they like a red car, and does it matter to them that color has been changed??
Is the rest of the car original, except for the color change? Did they also change the interior color?
So many variables, but the short answer is, Yes....a color change will normally decrease the value in the marketplace. How much depends on the rest of the car, and if the car was/is a desirable car to start with, ie: LT-1, 427, etc. If it is a base car, with few options, then the color change will not effect the value as much as it would if it were an LT-1.
If you like the color, and the car, then it don't matter. Drive, and enjoy it. Annnnd.....until you decide to sell it, no-one has to know.....it'll be our little secwet.....
