I was thinking and realized that there are some critical items that I found out about my C3 kind of by accident and they could have been an issues if I had not been just run across them on this forum.  What do you guys (Webster says that the term guys can refer to both men and women when talking about a group by the way) think about having a link, Button or something permanently available (obvious location etc.)

Put things in it that when you are a new C3 owner you most likely do not know and it could be harmful to your car or could avoid you wasting time or money if you knew about them.

Things that most of us have had to find out the hard way.  This a start of that list and may be we can get the site set to display it.  If we collect a list then we can populate it with the actual links or posts.

Order a GM Maintenance manual for your year nothing else will take its place.
Your jack is under the plastic liner be hind the passengers seat for years??  picture would help
Make sure you use oil enough Zing in it for Flat tappet cams.

If some people think this is a good idea then we need to start a thread that people can post not only the subject but information or pictures that explain why and how.  Maybe just links to earlier posts that are good short and to the point.   Do not want to point a new person to a 3 page post that goes off and on subject.  Not that we ever get off subj.  I never do! Wacko  Well not often any ways.

Besides it is my parents fault If it were not for them then I would not be getting off topic.  Beer

Start of my recommended subjects:
- Order a GM Maintenance manual for your year nothing else will take its place.
- Jack for your  C3 is under the plastic liner be hind the passengers seat for years??  picture would help
- Make sure you use oil enough Zinc in it for Flat tappet cams.

Great idea, Gilbert! I'm not the guy to do it, but I do think it should be done!

When a problem arises, look at the simple stuff first.  Lots of $$ has been wasted by throwing dollars into a complicated solution when the  problem was actually something simple.  Don't hesitate ask the guys and gals here.

That is also a good idea to let them know that there are a lot of good answers just ask.

The forum provides commonsense to the maintenance and repair process.  You can ask anything and get a good answer.

The things I'm looking at are things that a lot of us know but may not realize the number of people that do not know.

For example I was on vacation popped a fuse in my Buick noticed a muscle car parts house in a Podunk town just down the street from where we were going to have lunch.  I went in to purchase the fuse for my Buick.  Just started talking to the guy behind the counter and when he found out I had an 82 Corvette he volunteer the information about needing to use oil with more zinc in it than is normally available in today's oils.  I had no idea if he was pulling my leg but decided to purchase a case from him and then looked up articles on the subject when I got home.  There was event a post on the forum on it.  How many people know about the modern oils not having enough zinc in them to protect your C3.

Those are the types of things I'm talking about not trying to take the place of you got a problem ask someone an they will help you with it type of things.  Also I purchase 5 books before someone on this forum mentioned that the only good book was the GM maintenance manual.  That little bit of info would have saved me about $50 bucks.

Gil my friend, the idea certainly has merit, and hopefully it would draw prospective members to us. Clap

That is also my idea give them somethings that they need to know and at the same time let them know that there is a wealth of knowledge from the forum.

That "Button" has always been here....just look under the "Research" drop-down at the upper left of the page, by your log-in name...you'll see the "C3 Corvette Tips and Tricks" there. Click on that and it will take you to the page. All members are encouraged to add their input to the topics there. It is NOT designed to be a discussion area...only a place to look for quick tips without having to search the forums. If you have an easier, or different way to do something, such as a window adjustment, paint repair, or whatever, that's the place to go so others will be able to see it. Thumbs Up
