I recently replaced my non working( non original) radio with a new Kenwood AM/FM CD unit.
Also replaced the two rear speakers( Car came with rear speakers but they'd long been gone)
Anyhow, Everything works fine and the sound quality is excellent..Wife can even plug her pandora thingy into it..More functions than I personally need..but that's the way of things these days.

I'm curious what some of you have for your sound system in your C3's.??

I'm a bit hard of hearing..SO my chosen Kenwood sound system on my '78 is usually off..

We like the true "sound system" that the Corvette makes ..esp with the windows down and opened up..:)
The sound of the road under the tires..the passing of the wind..and the engine..:)

Mine has JBA  hi performance headers on it w/dual stainless exhaust..
You can really 'feel' that small block winding up and then purring like a big cat ..:) Jim

Well I had a Delco AM/FM/CB radio. It all worked, but these old analog radios don't seem to work to well with the newer digital signals. So I tried out a Retro Sound AM/FM/MP3/Bluetooth w/amp stereo. Last year was the first year and it was ok. The Bluetooth feature was temperamental. This season the radio sometimes cuts in and out when I hit the brakes or hit the turn signal. Very disappointed. It was a $400 waste imo.
Glad I didn't sell my "cut' radio/center gauge console. I might just go all out for a AM/FM/MP3/XM/Sirius radio setup.

Still the stock AM/FM Stereo from '73. Pretty scratchy and needs a rebuild, actually turned off most time. I just like listening to the open air and the sound of the motor going through the gears !!

I have the original radio in my car.  I added a 300W amplifier with the latest known compact technology and that runs very cool compared to older amps.  I mounted it in the "V" space underneath my radio where it fits nicely because of its thin design.  Everything fits fine with enough room for basic circulation.  Then, I installed new front speakers (Polk) and the top of the line high output, Alpine speakers with thin/extremely powerful magnets in the rear that fit like stock in the original rear speaker mounting brackets.  Photos are attached.  I also added an MP3 radio adapter ("Simple" brand, avail. on Amazon) so that I could even charge my phone while I played music from my iPhone.  You only need a standard cord to connect an iPhone or any type of MP3 player directly to your radio.  The sound is fully modern and very sweet!  My wife and I are extremely satisfied with our discrete new sound system because it not only sounds good, it looks entirely original, but conceals a wonderful sounding setup with the latest technology, still with a classic, unmolested OE look.  Truth be told, I enjoy my C3 because it takes me back several years to a wonderful point in memorable history, but our expectations for audio sound were not high in those days and I wanted the best of both worlds.  Today's tunes need to produce in our C3's so that we can smile even more while driving the coolest car ever designed.
Hoping this was helpful.

Redwing and Lakeside, glad to see some clean aftermarket installations !! I have ripped out way too many installed by Bubba, his brother Daryl and his other brother Daryl. The last amp I took out of a project '81 car I worked on was wired from the battery to the amp with 12-2 Romex, Priceless !! I am amazed by the size of the amp that Lakeside installed, not that long ago you needed a wheelbarrow size amp to get some good power !! Sarge81, simple answer to your problem is - don't hit your brakes and "signals, we don't need no stinking signals !!"

The base AM/FM worked ok in my '69 but it was difficult to tune in precisely or hold some stations. I replaced it with an Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo with Bostion speakers in the kick panels. It does quite well but I have to keep the volume up at highway speeds with the top down.
