The nature of the beast on these cars is that no two are alike.....ever. A tire that rubs on one won't on another. Body fit is hit or miss at best.
The inner wheel wells are part of the body, and bonded on. There are no adjustments other than those you make with a saw....Dead

Joel,

Thanks for the reply. The car came with 225/70/15 tires on it so the rub probably isn't bad. I only hear it occasionally when turning hard to the right when driving slow. My tires in the front have 5-6/32 tread remaining and I wanted to replace them to match my new rear BF Goodrich Radial TA's. I am not sure if I should just go down a size to 215/70/15 or put the same size tire on and see how it fits. It's possible the BF Goodrich Radial TA might fit slightly different from the Eagle GT II that they will replace.

You can check the bumper blocks on the "A" frame. They may be battered from bumping them when turning the wheel to lock. Welding a small piece of metal on the block will stop the wheel from going as far, and stop the rub.

Does anyone have a picture of the bumper blocks? I am not sure what it even looks like.

It has been a while since I looked at mine but I believe there is a small metal tab welded on
the lower a-arm that the spindle will hit to prevent further turning. You probably need to
remove the wheel and tire see this clearly.

Hello everybody, l had the 225/70/15 tires installed today and there are no rubbing issues, go figure. The old tires were Eagle GT II, maybe they were slightly out of round. Thank you everyone I am glad they fit they look nice. The ride height is 28.75" in the rear and 27" in the front. I had the front end checked out and they said every thing was good. I bought the 8" bolts for the rear, but the spring place thought it was fine with my size tires and the 32 pounds of pressure I run. Thanks.

I'm running 235/60 Radial TA's on my '72 and like others who have posted you a reply my frame bolts are nice and shiny from the few times they have been "polished" by the tires. I try not to do full lock turns and as I like the ride height I'm not about to change tires..

What wheels are you running?  If not stock or stock offset, then not much you can do to fix.  I'm running 255/60-15s w/ no rubbing.
