I have just purchased a 1976 stingray.  I noticed the right rear wheel camber is off.  The top of the wheel is pointed inward.  Kinda looks like this     |    \       I am a mediocre home mechanic and I'm wondering if someone could help me or give me some ideas of what to look for.  Thanks for the help.

The rear camber is pretty easy to set by hand. I bought two 1/4" flat steel plates approx 12" square and then 8 pcs of 3/8" round rod. I jack up the car and set the rear wheels on those plates. You can now loosen and adjust the rear struts. The adjustment have an off center washer that will move bottom of wheels in or out. I then put a level up against the rim of the wheel to determine the right camber. To keep the level away from the tire I cut a piece of 2*2 the lenght of the wheel diameter. I them found a piece of steel about 1/16" thick. Then moved the wheel until level read 'plumb'.

Excellent pictures and shop aids Jack. That is a really clever way to do this at home. Thanks!

Jack's method and shop equipment substitution is great. It will definitely get the rear camber set pretty dang close, depending on how level the car is sitting, and the level of the surface to start with.
I drove my '74 for a couple of years with the rear tires looking like this   // \\ !!!
I did finally set the camber by eyeball, and it's been that way ever since.

The rear suspension is designed to have a small amount of neg camber, so it really should have it, to keep the handling of the car right, especially when driving on the edge.Adams' Apple2009-05-03 20:14:34

Great Pics and an easy set up.
I have mine set the rear camber at .50 negative, this helps the handling and tire grip.

Thank you so much for the great advice.  Do you have a pic by any chance of the washer or bolt that I will be adjusting?  If not thats cool, thanks again.
 P.S. Nice car!

Thanks for the nice complement on WETVET. WinkCheck this out for a better idea where the rear camber bolts are located. Hope it helps.

Yes, I do.
The first pic shows the OEM cams in the lower RH part of the photo. I eventually went with adjustable struts from VBP, to eliminate the chance to have the camber go out of adjustment. Good luck.

Just to clarify, for anyone who doesn't understand where the adjustment is from Jack's pics, check THIS modified pic out.

btw....I think that bolt is in backwards...

Jack, thanks for the photos and info. Just got my new T-Arms and U-joints in and finished TODAY ! Next job is to set the camber and you are on the money with the help and info. I also went to the Duntov site and read through their info and tips. Will print both out when I go to do the work tomorrow. By the way, my T-Arms were in worse shape than I had thought. Glad I went with completely new assemblies for the job.
