72 Coupe.  Installed new lines, control valve and steering cylinder.  Bled system per directions that came with control valve.  Steering cylinder pulses or hammers when turning steering wheel, especially when to the left.  Have checked check valve in pump.  Thought the new control valve was defective, so installed another new one.  Still have same problems.  Any suggestions.

Haven't done mine yet but it sounds like there may still be air in the system somewhere.

+1 on Steevo's reply. Balance control valve with engine running and front wheels off the ground. Once balanced, then back and forth lock to lock to bleed while checking fluid level. It's possible that your pump is causing the pulse but I suspect the control valve. I've heard about a lot of issues with recent rebuilt units. Newer control valve castings are being knocked off overseas and do not have same quality/function as ones rebuilt with real GM core castings. Let us know if you find the issue.

Control Unit has been replaced twice with new, not rebuilt.  Steering Cylinder was replaced at same time with all new lines.  Old unit did not exhibit these problems.  Pump is about 30 years old.  Will try centering control valve and let you know is this helps.  Thanks for the reply.
