[QUOTE=williammoore2]I had a 76 colum in my 78. I replaced the entire colum with a newer used one. I had the used one rebuilt by gmtilt.com. He did a good job for a fair price. So I have a blue one if ya want. It has everything on it and was in good shape I just replaced it cuz I wanted tilt. I found out it was froma  76 after I bought a new steering wheel for it and It would not work(4 spoke thing). The colums are fairly easy to replace just 4 bolts in the car and unscrew from the rag joint, Kinda a pain to get out from the rag joint but not too bad. Hope info helps.

Thanks Will, I will keep that in mind. I am like you though, I have tilt in mine now and if I replace, I would like to put tilt back into it. It is a nice opition.

I dont beleive you will be able to find a wooden one. I think your best bet would be to get a new colum and wheel. Thats what I had to do. I just went ahead and had it rebuit since I did not want to have any issues because It was used. Good luck in your search.

The '76 Corvette shared the same steering wheel as the Vega for that year only. I e-mailed Grant at one time and they do not make anything for the 1976 Corvette.

Thanks Aaron,
Good info. I also found in that post, where you can just replace parts and get the same. I think I will check into gettings the parts. May be a easy deal. That is if I can find all the parts! LOL

What year model columns will fit in a 76? I found a 78 but not sure if it will fit.

I checked with our steering column expert.  All 69 to 82 will bolt in.... BUT..  77 had a wiper switch in it so should be avoided.  Only 76 and newer had a dimmer switch in the column.  Earlier ones had it on the floor.  So a 78 to 82 is your easiest option.  They are available for about $150.00 or so, plus about $300 to rebuild, if needed.

Good Luck
Larry

That is some great info. I am still learning about the vetts and maybe one day I will be in the place I can help out some fellow members.
