OK, I would love to get rid of the cheap looking center console of my 81...the rugs are awful even tho they are new.  I have gone to several local interior guys who say one of two things "uhhh, what?" and "boy, that's going to be expensive"

Anyone know if the center console, where the shifter is located, in a 75 can go into an 81?  I don't mind doing some configuring of electrical switches, i'll guess the window switches would be one, and adding of attachment points.

Thanks

Not an easy swap, fer sher. The dash is different...where the center gauge cluster is. The HVAC controls are totally different.....
A major makeover. Don't know that anyone has ever done it, so can't say if it's even possible....Ermm

You could put one of those wood kits over it to cover the blemishes.  Not sure what you can do to the carpeting except replace it or spray it.

Gary, the interior is mostly new, rugs, dash, seats.  I just don't like how the rugs look.  I like the way the 75's look so I was hoping it would be a relatively easy swapLOL.  Looks like I might try something this fall or check out some cars while I'm at Carlisle and the NCM.  Who knows, maybe someone has come up with something cooler.

Maybe peel off the rug material from the fiberboard backing and cover in real leather or suede. Or that man made suede material called Alcantera. Just throwing an idea at ya.

You can buy leather side panels already made, I think Corvette America and MAM sell t5hem. It would get rid of the carpet. The carpet on mine was ratty and the fiberboard was toast. Ordered new fiberboard and carpet. Turned out pretty well.

Darryl and Barry, both good ideas.  I think I'll strip mine, make copies and try to recover them. In case I screw something up at least I'll have a set of copies to retry.

Would the '77 vinyl covered side panels fit?

Since your just "around the corner" so to speak. Take a ride down to the shop where I'm working on my vette. I can show you what that Alcantera material looks and feels like. Just give me a heads up if you decide to stop down. I'm usually there after 4pm. (495 Harlem Rd. in W.S.)

Not sure if '77 panels would fit Greg. I'm sure with some massaging they could be made to fit.
