First thing I would check is to see if the cables are connected and the latches are functioning. ..................The first cable with the handle on it goes back to the first latch on the drivers side. That latch is connected to the passenger side latch by another cable that goes between the two. Not sure if you have to remove the rear compartment shade or not, but both latches and cables should be visible from underneath the black plastic surround. You'll have to crawl back there and observe while someone pulls the cable. ...................... If both cables and latches are working, make sure both latches are moving far enough to clear the two metal strikes that come down from the glass hatch. ......................... If all that seems to be in order, it might be that your gas shocks are shot and do not have enough ooooomph to raise the glass. ....................... If this seems to be the case, have your assistant pull the cable while you press up from underneath the glass. What ever you do be VERY CAREFUL when opening and closing the hatch !!! That glass is no longer produced and is very expensive to find a new piece. .................... See what the first couple steps above look like and let us know what you find. Good luck !!

I check the cable and found the cable had come disconnect from the bracket behind the driver seat. The threads on the plastic portion are worn out and not sure on how I'm going to fix it. Is there anywhere I can get one to replace it.

Not sure if any of the Corvette suppliers carry much CE stuff. ZIP Corvette has the replacement gas shocks for the hatch but no latch hardware. Your best bet might be EBay, there's usually some CE hatch hardware listed. Just do a search for 1982 Collector Edition. You'll probably also see the $$$ of used hatch glass there. Good luck and keep us posted.

I believe the '84 Corvette has the same latch and cable.
