Anyone here know where to get schematics for the old Delco radios?  I think it would be really cool to wire in an aux jack to my original radio so I can use my Ipod in the car -- without using one of those rinkydink Dead FM modulators.  I know that the easiest thing to do would be to buy an aftermarket head unit, but for some reason I want to keep that old original Delco in my '76.  Doesn't seem like it would be too hard - just wire another input into the amplifier and then install some sort of switching circuit that would turn the radio circuit off but still allow the use of the amp.  (OK - so I don't know exactly what I'm talking about, guess I'd really like to find some instructions from someone that has done this before).  Thanks, Dave

You could check with Greg at S&M Electro-tech.  763-780-2861.  I know he can put whole modern electronics in your original case.

Larry is correct, I sent my 74 delco radio to S&M where they gut the original radio and update it to use the latest technology but keep the old original look. The radio looks and works just like the original but it has great sound, more output and for I think $15 bucks I got the aux. jack to use an I-pod, or cd player which can be hidden in the back behind your seats. I ran my wires up through the console and it works great! No one will ever know you have upgraded!

Thanks guys.  I looked at their website - looks like they do a nice job.  $400 might be a little steep for me (there's a bunch of other places I could sink $400 in this car before I do the radio).  Guess I'm still hoping there's a way for a do-it-yourselfer with a soldering iron to figure this one out.  If anyone has any leads let me know.
