There is so much to replace on the inside of my car that I have been looking at ways to fix the bright work (i.e. chrome) for parts that do not need to be replaced yet but the chrome has warn off in spots.

I have used silver paint  .  Modeling chrome (the stuff they sell for Plastic models (works). 

Then I found a roll of 3M Scotch Foil Tape 3311.  It is designed for chrome duck work to seal the joints and not be visibly different than the bright metal around it.  It is real metal tape.  Thin enough to mold thick enough not to tear easily.  Great stuff.  Just did my dash and I'm thinking about doing my air conditioning Vents and other areas that I used silver paint on.  

Make sure you use a sharp knife or razor blade as it is metal and dulls a blade quickly.  

I'm lazy, I use a silver permanent marker. It does wear off but I keep a marker in the glove box and just reapply as needed.
