Ok so a year ago I had my car re painted and I put the clock silver adjust knob and center screw in a place I would not  los it????? well it might not be lost but I can't find it. So I picked a new one up at the carlisle show but can't make it work.  I have two sizes of knobs and one center set screw.  I cannot get the set screw to tighten so I can pull out the knob and turn to set the time. I had no problem with the old one.  I will have to get a magnifier glass out to see the end that sticks out from the center panel and see how the center set screw is to adhere to the metal part sticking out the console.  It  could be that the silver knob is not going into the plastic frame far enough and the set screw will not reach where it has to be attached.  Any info would be appreciated.

Baby, Baby, Baby!!  I know that the knob has to be aligned to fit properly.  Also proper alignment is required to get the screw to adhere!!  Say a prayer to the Corvette Deity and things will fall  into place!!!

Check and SEE if you put the clock knob in the ashtray?..:)
Anyhow, LOOK closely at the shaft upon which the knob slips onto ..I believe it's indexed so the knob won't turn and the inside of the knob is also indexed ..The screw just holds the knob on..It's not the tightness of the attaching screw that keeps the knob from turning when you pull out to set the clock's time.

Try installing the tiny screw into the stem of the clock WITHOUT the knob until it bottoms out..Not too tight, just lightly snug.
Measure the length of the screw thread protruding ..Measure the distance from insert for screw head  on knob to back-bottom of knob..
Assuming the replacement knob is correct, it should fit on..Good light, correct size screwdriver, steady hand..
AND check the ashtray on the console  for the old knob..:)Jim

With time I will try this that was next but the small thing of (TIME) someTIME's gets in the way.
And yes I know as soon as I get the new one to take hold I will find the old one which worked perfectly. Thanks BB78
