my 72 has a color code of 417 for the interior. This is a saddle color. When looking at different trims, carpets, seats ect I am finding there is a light saddle and a dark saddle in 72. How do I know which one I had. Unfortunately bubba owned this car at some time and he painted everything including the seats. I am thinking it is light saddle but not really sure. If anyone in this group would have an ontario orange with either saddle interior I would really like to see some pictures. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this.
Thanks
Rodney

You may already do this, but I used to and still do sometimes......look at Corvettes for sale on Ebay and other sites that have them for sale. People usually put a lot of pics on there. If I was looking to see how something was supposed to fit or how it was supposed to look.

The 417 trim is for "Saddle Vinyl".
The 421 is for "Saddle Leather".

Those are the only 2 options for saddle in 72.

That maybe the differences your thinking of.

It is my understanding that SADDLE is TAN. The color may vary as to LEATHER or VINYL.  The BROWNS do come in light or dark. They are brown not tan. The deluxe interior is leather and darker while the base interior is lighter. This has been my experience, may not apply to all years or order sheet.

My spec guide agrees...only one color called saddle. It does not differentiate between light or dark.

I talked to 2 different venders today about the color saddle and which one the car may have come with originally. They both said it could have been either as the saddle could be bought in the light or dark. Both used the trim code 417. And yes that is the vinyl. Both the vinyl and leather used light and dark. They both said theres no way to be sure which was in it from the factory and it really was up to me to decide. Either one will match the trim tag of 417. I am thinking about the leather like vinyl seats and then upgrade the door panels to deluxe and the carpet to the cut pile.
