The Corvette Restorer issue winter 2009 had a comparison and HushMat did the best job for heat reduction. It was compared to Corvette Central ceramic heat barrier, Kool Mat, and Energy Q radiant barrier

Kool Mat is crap, it is very thin and falls apart. I have found that dyna mat is thicker and is easy to install and hush mat is the same as Kool mat.

Dyna Pad and Dyna Mat is so easy to work with and I think that it will do what is expected. I will see after I get it all back together and ready to hit the road.
Thanks

Not a fair comparison; hushmat is for sound insulation; not heat.

Anyone has experience with products other that DynaMat or lizard skin (sprayed stuff is a little too permanent for me...) for heat?  Roofing material from home depot perhaps?  I don't feel like paying for the "Dyna" name... and I can cut my own pieces; looks like everything "pre-cut" is twice the price.

I'm really looking for an affordable heat insulation solution.  I'm assuming a molded carpet that has a jute will be enought for the sound.  Our C3's are not all sheet metal; so they don't produce as much vibration noise to begin with (I think...).

Hushmat founder himself on youtube.

In this one, he really focus on sound deadening:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYJsJzBz2iM

In this later one, he's more specific about cooling as well:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqb3wdQXLLw

And of course... the name of the product; "hush"; kind of a clue.

My previous reply came out wrong.  I re-read the article and a few comparisons on the web.  Hushmat seems to also provide great cooling properties; but you have to admit they first developped the product for sound deadening.  Cooling (by choosing the right material of their sound deadener) was just gravy for them.  They were targetting sound.

I found that a lot of people tackle sound & heat with 2 products.  The article that was pointed out was supposed to be about heat only, but they seemed (to me) to have mixed both type of products; which is why I called it unfair.  Turns out my own critic was unfair. Apologies!

In one of his videos; he shows that it sticks to anything; even grease/oil covered surface.  I`m sure you did your research, but regardless of what he says about how well it sticks, you should try to prep the surface as good as you can.

I`m curious as how far up you plan on installing hushmat into the firewall and the top front.  Let us know how it goes.

Steph.

Anyone try Rumble Mat?  Web site says it's thicker than Hushmat, and cheaper, was reviewed in Auto restorer.  Website:  rumblemat.com.  I'm thinking about it!

I used Dyna mat for sound and Dyna pad for heat. Both work great for my 68. Dynapad was thick so I only used it at the firewall and feet area of the driver and passenger side.
I was able to get it over the Dyna pad and still the carpet fit fine. I had to remove part of it around the accelerator pedal, it was too thick in this area.

If you put hush mat in your car for cooling you will be pulling it out within a month - it sucks at that.  I installed dyna pad for heat and it dropped my interior from an uncomfortable level to very comfortable - save your money buy what works pal!

I am considering using a deadener from Eastwood for floor & doors.
Any opinions about Eastwood's Thermo-Coustic product ?

DynaMat has precut corvette kits now.  I put it in the 69.  Easy to install and make s a difference.  I like their products.  We install alot of them in the Home electronics business, and have yet to be disappointed.
