Hello all, I am in the process of replacing my carpet and seats my question is what is the best way

to cut down on some of the ridiculous heat from the engine bay, I see they have panels that can

be installed, they have Dynamat, some type of spray. I am sure quite a few members have gone through this process, I just want to do this once and any and all feedback would be greatly

appreciated ! P.S. I did buy that thermal blanket to put over the trans tunnel but I'm sure that

will not 100% cure this problem.

I used a product for Eastwood that is like Dynamat, but cheaper and when you go to Ebay to by it...there is an ebay deal in autions that makes it even cheaper then ordering it direct form them! I set almost did the whole car. Just a panel of two short from doing the whole interior , so I ordered a second set and used the rest for my boat engine area.

Andy,

Extra insulation will help and now's the time to add it intelligently..

Another couple things you can do is verify that the air control system that is SUPPOSED to shut the hot water down

in the heater hose actually is working..It's inder the hood, passenger side in line in the heather hose and attached with a couple hose clamps with the air-pneumatic line attached..

IF the heater hose between that valve critter in the heater hose line stays HOT with the heater OFF, chances are either the control assembly( less than 20 dollars at an auto parts store and 20 minutes to install) or perhaps the heater switch and associated controls need attention..latter being more costly as one has to get into the console to access that starting place..

One poster said he actually put a manual shut off valve in line in his heater hose run so he could insure NO hot radiator water was getting to the heater during warm months..Jim

Andy, I 'm in process of doing same thing to one of my vettes. I used Lizard Skin Ceramic coating.

I also plan to use the foiled backed insulation over that.

Lizard skin sprays down and I was really impressed with the finish product, I sprayed the complete interior front to back including battery and storage boxes with two coats. I used the 2 gallon pail.

It is also a sound deadener and once on you can hear and feel a difference. If you have gone that far it's a good investment. No cutting..... no piecing in......no glueing.....
