Hey all...I just wanted to share a little experience I had and hope it might help someone else. I've only posted a few times and each time I've had great responses so I hope to give back just a little.
I was frustrated with my interior on the 75 I'm fixing up....not necessarily that it needed the work (mostly just the cost of replacing parts). I want to get the car on the road and start enjoying the car but I really wanted to "spruce up" the interior and replace/fix as I can afford. There were many scuffed, scraped, dirty, dingy interior parts in the car that needed to be touched up...and lets face it....the aerosol cans from the various suppliers (you know who they are...simply aren't worth the money and the finish is horrible).
So I started looking online and thank goodness found the remarkable products made by SEM, specifically SEM ColorCoat. Well I went to my local auto paint store and purchased a quart of SEM Colorcoat Dark Blue (4848). While at the store I ran across the Preval Sprayer (after the frustration with aerosol cans I thought I'd give it a shot).
Got home and took the first part (passenger side kick panel) and cleaned it up with a little degreaser, cleaner from Duplicolor, filled the baby food-like jar from Preval and sprayed away............
The quality of the paint from SEM and the sprayer from Preval made the results absolutely amazing. I wouldn't have imagined that the results would come out so good....I've actually changed the entire interior color in the vette (don't be upset....as I can afford I will be replacing every single piece back to its original bright blue color).....I must say the dark blue actually makes the car look cleaner and sets off the exterior bright blue color.
Anyways...the 60 dollar quart of paint from SEM and the 8 dollar (yes...8 dollar sprayer/aerosol refills are 3-4 bucks and can be found at Home Depot) was an inexpensive, yet quality solution to what I know would be a much longer, costlier process.
I'll post some pics if you guys like...but my project doesn't compare to some that most of you guys are doing...anyways...I hope someone out there can use this little bit of information to either save some money and/or get their ride back on the road sooner!
