I bought some glass to replace the nasty original stuff. No instructions! Does anyone know how to replace interior mirror glass? (1972)

Smile Well, It may be a little more costly, but  when I did mine I replaced the whole mirror. Much less hassel and looks like the original. Corvette America has them for sale.

Yeah. You're right. But I'm stubborn. It can be done or they wouldn't sell the glass. Right?

Well....yeah...how do you think they make any money? They make money every time you break the glass, and order another one.....LOL

If your mirror has a rubber gasket holding the glass in, you should be able to heat the rubber up until it is soft, and then ease the glass out. However...if your mirror glass is junk anyway, just use the old timer's method of glass removal....

Once the old glass is out, you will see how the rubber holds the glass into the housing. With some heat, and prolly a little silicon spray lube, it should go in fairly easily. Be aware tho, that the rubber gasket may be more like hard plastic by now, after all the years of being in the sun...it may disintegrate on contact. Ouch

You guys are such pessimists. Smile This is without a doubt the easiest job I've done during this restore. 1) break out old glass 2) clean up any mess 3) heat up rubber retainer with hair dryer 4) insert new glass 5) have a beer...you're done

Thumbs Up I think you cancelled the 7 year bad luck period with the LUCKY DICE hanging from the dimmer handle on the mirror.  Cool
